The aim of this project is to educate and support young people age 16-24 helping them develop skills and strategies to deal with, manage and change situations they may already find themselves in. The main goal is to effect change in their behaviour and promote positive lifestyle choices.

We want to provide up to a 2 hour (max) prevention session to groups of approx. 15 young people on healthy alternative behaviours that are transferrable through daily life at home, in school and within the community in order to reduce drug and alcohol use and address any anti-social behaviour.

Our sessions will provide information about drugs and alcohol and this will be presented with the focus on life skills that young people can identify with and easily use in the course of today’s challenges. This will be done in a fun and interactive format allowing young people to make the links on the effects of drugs and alcohol on themselves and on others around them.

This is a bespoke service that will be designed and delivered after consultation with a completed training needs analysis.

These sessions can take place during the day with some evening sessions also available on request at local venues.

General life skills could include:

  • Relationships inc. who can I trust to help me?
  • Handling problems
  • Managing connections with peers to include how to say No!
  • Social Media
  • Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Attitudes and Values

Issues to be addressed may include:

  • New Psychoactive Substances
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Cannabis
  • Alcohol
  • Energy Drinks

These sessions will be compiled with the needs of your communities in mind and pitched at a suitable level deemed appropriate for your young people. This project is non-judgemental, there will be no preaching at young people, rather it will be more encouragement to speak up and get involved.

The training dates are available in January and February 2018 and would urge you to get in contact with us as soon as possible. We appreciate that you may have already a full calendar planned for the beginning of the New Year but please get in touch so that we can register your expression of interest should this project become extended. These sessions are fully funded and free to your organisation.

YES you’re Interested, then contact maria@ascert.biz or call 0800 254 5123 to arrange training for an early start in January 2018.”
